The focus of my work in 2017 was to create sculptures that reflect the issues around the world we live in. To achieve this goal I focused on four main topics that I believe are serious issues that affect people today. Including Substance and Alcohol abuse, Body Image, Environmental Issues and Animal Cruelty. I have used sculpture and photography to express my ideas and concerns. I have included Barbie dolls in my Body Image piece, as they are an excellent example of the unrealistic goals set upon girls. Environmental Issues is about how we can help to improve our environment. The artwork symbolises it’s potential to flourish with our help. Animal Cruelty is to raise awareness about the intentional or unintentional harm forced upon animals within the farming sector. The Drug and Alcohol Abuse artwork explores the effects of drugs and alcohol in relation to peer pressure in today’s society.
