WHAT ABOUT THE INANOMATES

2020

This photography series What About the Inanimates? is a photographic series that investigates a different perspective of life during lockdown. Taken on a Canon 1100D, 18-55mm lens during stage four lockdown restrictions in Melbourne’s Northern Suburbs. The scenes were prepared as sculptures by positioning the clothes using pins, tape, wire, other objects and in particular cases, photoshop to fill them out as if they were being worn moments before the photo was taken. For us lockdown has been difficult due to our need as human beings to have social connections and without these connections we struggle with loneliness and our mental health deteriorates. But have you ever stopped to think about how isolation has been affecting our inanimate objects? When was the last time you wore your work clothes or got ready in the morning to leave the house? Our wardrobe has truly been suffering from lack of social interactions and loneliness whilst gathering dust. What About the Inanimates? explores bringing to light the untold stories of the once ‘everyday wear’ that has now become ‘rare wear’.
